Marinomed is led by a strong management team with expertise in virology and infectious diseases, allergy and immunology, assay technology and molecular biology. The team combines this expertise with an extensive background in product development for biopharmaceutical and pharmaceutical companies.

ANDREAS GRASSAUER, PHD – CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER

Dr. Grassauer is co-founder of Marinomed and is graduated Ph.D. from the Institute of Applied  Microbiology at the University of Natural Resources and Applied Life Sciences.

He is co-inventor of several key patents in the field of virology, including the patents protecting the MAVIREX technology platform. He is particularly experienced in the establishment and development of high-tech companies.

EVA PRIESCHL-GRASSAUER, PHD – CHIEF SCIENTIFIC OFFICER

Dr. Prieschl-Grassauer has more than fifteen years of experience working in pharmaceutical drug development. Dr Prieschl-Grassauer is CSO and Co-founder of Marinomed and graduated Ph.D. from the University of Vienna. Before Marinomed, she was head of the allergy program at Novartis in Vienna. In this position, she discovered the mechanism of action of FTY720 (Fingolimod), Novartis´ novel immunomodulatory drug against multiple sclerosis. Following that, she supervised the clinical development of an innovative cancer therapy drug that was in clinical Phase III. Dr. Prieschl-Grassauer has published more than 30 articles in high ranking peer-reviewed journals in the field of immunology, molecular biology and medicinal chemistry.

PASCAL SCHMIDT, MBA – CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER

Pascal Schmidt worked for more than twenty years in corporate finance, business development and M&A roles. Prior to joining Marinomed, he was managing director at Raymond James and partner at the German predecessor company Mummert & Company, where he advised companies in the industrial technologies and life sciences industries. Prior to Mummert & Company, Pascal Schmidt held various positions at Infineon including in business development, controlling, legal accounting and as authorized signatory and member of the investment committee of Infineon Ventures GmbH. Pascal Schmidt started his career at Siemens where, later, he was part of the finance team responsible for the carve-out and IPO of Infineon Technologies. He earned his Master of Science in Business Administration from the University of Bayreuth.

HELMUT BARANYOVSZKI, MBA – HEAD FINANCE & ADMINISTRATION

Mag. Helmut Baranyovszki, MBA has more than twenty years of financial leadership experience in the IT (IBM), biopharmaceutical (Novartis, Marinomed) and medical device technology (KCI) industry.  From 1997 to 2008 he served in different leadership roles at Novartis Institutes for Biomedical Research in Vienna. From 2010 to 2017 Helmut ran his own consulting business. Helmut holds a Master (Mag) degree from the Vienna University of Economics and Business, an MBA from the California State University Hayward, an MBA and an MLE from the Imadec University, Vienna.

RENATE MOSER, PHD – HEAD BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT

Dr. Renate Moser’s role is Head of Business Development as well as to take care of existing partnerships in her position as Alliance Manager. She is member of the team as of January 2018. Before taking up this position she consulted Marinomed as a free Business Development consultant for almost 3 years which she ran in total for 12 years. Until 2006 she spent 15 years in the diagnostic and pharmaceutical industry handling product management and marketing activities as well as the business development and licensing for one of the biggest national pharmaceutical companies in Austria. In 1992 she received her degree in Biology/Biochemistry from the Karl Franzens University in Graz, where she carried out research work in molecular mechanisms of lipoprotein metabolism and lipid disorders at the Institute of Medical Biochemistry.
